8 New Ways to Enjoy the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival

8 New Ways to Enjoy the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival

EPCOT is at its most beautiful in the spring when the park transforms with the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival March 5 through June 2. I can’t wait to stroll among the bright flower towers, take in the blanket of colorful blooms along the World Showcase Bridge, and find my favorite topiaries throughout the park – and this year is the culmination of 30 years of horticulture magic, as we celebrate three decades of Flower & Garden!  Whether this is your thirtieth year of visiting or your first, here are eight all-new experiences coming to this year’s festival … can you dig it?  1. There’s No Telling How Far These Topiaries Will Grow  An all-new topiary display will be making big waves this year at the main entrance of EPCOT – make way for Maui, Moana, Heihei and Pua! Crafted with an artist’s careful eye and the horticulturalists’ loving care, these new topiaries will be the perfect welcome to guests walking into the park for a full day of floral fun.  2. One Little Spark of Photo Inspiration  My friends over at Disney PhotoPass Service are unparalleled when it comes to creative ways to sprinkle extra pixie dust over guest photos. Make plans to graft special Magic Shots onto your day with a bouquet of cool returning effects, as well as two new shots – including this particularly inspiring Figment Topiary Magic Shot.   3. Ahoy – Family Fun Ahead!  If EPCOT is your favorite park, then you know just how valuable it is to stay at an EPCOT region resort; strolling from your room right to International Gateway is a lovely way to start your park day. Speaking of the EPCOT region resorts, the new Playalong Bay Play Garden presented by Smucker’s Uncrustables pays homage to one of our famous resort pools, mixing fun for the whole family with adventure on the high seas. This new nautically inspired playground will be located between the Imagination! pavilion and the entrance to World Showcase.   4. Enjoy a Seaside Bounty  Flanking the Playalong Bay Play Garden presented by Smucker’s Uncrustables, find two new Outdoor Kitchens with menus full of seafood goodness: Yacht Grub and Beach Grub. (See what we did, there?) Keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for more menu information to sprout once the Foodie Guide goes into bloom.  And, if you’re wondering where returning favorite Outdoor Kitchens Florida Fresh and EPCOT Farmers Feast will be – they will be in their new locations at CommuniCore Plaza at the servery window and inside CommuniCore Hall, respectively.  5. A Whole Crop of Festival Merchandise  Grab a bushel of great new gear with this year’s lineup of festival merchandise! Celebrate the festival’s 30th anniversary from head to toe with a matching shirt and shorts set or a bright new spirit jersey – both featuring everyone’s favorite citrusy friend, Orange Bird, and the 30th anniversary logo.   For fans of Spike the Bee, you can pack your garden party odds and ends inside a cute Lug Bag that’s sweeter than honey. You’ll feel right at home touring around the park (perhaps partaking in Spike’s Pollination Exploration scavenger hunt?) with a Spike the Bee Shoulder Plush.    Speaking of a garden party, how cute is this Alice In Wonderland collection? Find your inner Mad Hatter with the cutest pair of Alice In Wonderland Ears and gather some friends for a spot of tea during your next unbirthday party with a charming teacup set.  6. Jump for Joy with a New Garden Destination  A bouquet is worth a thousand words! Stop by World Celebration to discover the language of emotions as shown in plants with a new garden inspired by Inside Out 2.  7. They So Totally Rock!  Recently, we revealed the lineup of performers coming to the Garden Rocks Concert Series – you may remember hearing from the grapevine that we’re welcoming five new performers:  March 30-31 – Queensrÿche (NEW)  May 11-12 – Maverick City Music (NEW)  May 23-24 – The Outlaws (NEW)  May 30-31 – The Cat Empire (NEW)  June 1-2 – We The Kingdom (NEW)  8. Turn Over a New Leaf at CommuniCore Hall  There’s a new activation getting ready to bloom at CommuniCore Hall! Get a bee’s eye view at CommuniCore Hall, with a new gallery that is larger than life! Grab a bite at EPCOT Farmers Feast and learn more about how Disney’s Horticulture team brings topiaries, flower towers and more to the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival.  Now that’s a full, healthy harvest of new fun coming to this year’s festival! Start planning your visit during the most beautiful time of year with this special offer – it’s sure to put a spring in your step:  Save Up to 30% on Rooms at Select Disney Resort Hotels When Staying 5 Nights or Longer  See ya real soon at the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, March 5-June 2, 2025!  The post 8 New Ways to Enjoy the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival appeared first on Disney Parks Blog.

Things To Know Before Going To St. Thomas

Things To Know Before Going To St. Thomas

In the heart of the U.S. Virgin Islands lies St. Thomas, a stunning, mountainous gem just east of Puerto Rico offering visitors pristine sandy beaches, lush tropical landscapes, and a dash of lively Caribbean culture. Famous for its turquoise waters and friendly locals, this island is a must-visit destination for cruisers seeking adventure, relaxation, and memories that last a lifetime. Whether you’re drawn to snorkeling with sea turtles or savoring the island’s culinary delights, St. Thomas delivers. Planning Your Trip Careful planning for a trip to St. Thomas ensures you’ll make the most of your time on this wonderful island. Decide in advance what type of experience you desire — be it adventure, leisure, or culture — then, book excursions early to secure your spot. Whatever experience you choose, be sure to carve out time to embrace the island’s magic beyond your planned itinerary. Best Time to Visit Like many Caribbean islands, St. Thomas boasts warm, year-round weather, with temperatures averaging between 77°F and 88°F. Gentle, consistent breezes provide a refreshing relief, ensuring you never feel too hot. The best time to visit St. Thomas depends on what kind of experience you want to have. The island’s peak season runs from December to April, when the island is bustling with visitors escaping winter. If you prefer fewer crowds and lower prices, consider visiting during the shoulder months of May or November. Keep in mind that Hurricane season peaks from August to October, so it’s vital to stay updated on forecasts if cruising during that time. How to Get There Many major cruise lines dock at the vibrant Charlotte Amalie port, a bustling hub that connects cruisers to the island’s attractions in no time. Stays in port generally range from 6 to 8 hours, giving you plenty of time for shopping, sightseeing, and exploring. Getting Around in St. Thomas Navigating St. Thomas is easy, thanks to its convenient transportation options. Many tours include pick-up and drop-off services for hassle-free travel. For those venturing out solo, taxis and ‘safari buses’ provide reliable alternatives to traveling around the island’s steep, winding hills — a much easier option than driving an expensive rental car. Active travelers will enjoy exploring on foot in areas like downtown Charlotte Amalie, though the hilly terrain might be a bit of a challenge for those unaccustomed to it. Essential Travel Information Understanding a few essentials can make your St. Thomas visit a breeze. This unique destination combines tropical charm with well-organized services, ensuring every cruiser enjoys a stress-free experience. Entry Requirements For many U.S. citizens, St. Thomas feels like a tropical home away from home. No passport is required for entry, though carrying ID is advised. Most cruise passengers won’t need to clear customs during a day visit, but double-check with your cruise line for specific instructions. Currency St. Thomas uses the U.S. dollar, making transactions simple for American visitors. Credit cards are widely accepted, though small vendors might prefer cash. If you need to exchange currency, ATMs are plentiful near the port. Health and Safety Stay sun-smart with sunscreen and hydration to safely enjoy the island’s tropical climate. This mindfulness extends to those potent cocktails in abundance on the island; try not to imbibe too much, as alcohol is dehydrating. Don’t forget to pack a solid bug repellent — mosquitos are definitely a thing here. Seriously, they don’t mess around. On the bright side, the local clinics and emergency services are well-equipped to handle whatever comes your way. While St. Thomas is generally safe, keep personal belongings secure and avoid wandering unfamiliar areas at night, especially on the backstreets of Charlotte Amalie. Top Excursions and Tours St. Thomas brims with exciting excursions tailored for every traveler’s taste. At Shore Excursions Group, we specialize in curating smaller, more personalized tours, ensuring every experience feels exclusive and memorable. Here’s a glimpse at some top adventures: Aquatic Adventures Dive into St. Thomas’s vibrant marine life with exhilarating water-based excursions. Things To Know Before Going To Grand Cayman

Things To Know Before Going To Grand Cayman

Grand Cayman, the largest of the Cayman Islands, is an upscale destination beloved by cruisers from all over the globe. Better developed and less touristy overall than its Western Caribbean counterparts, Grand Cayman is the ultimate place to decompress, and a must-visit destination for anyone embarking on a Caribbean cruise. Its clear, tranquil waters and abundant, diverse marine life make it one of the best diving spots in the Caribbean, with hundreds of dive sites to explore. From snorkeling with stingrays at Stingray City to relaxing on the world-renowned Seven Mile Beach, Grand Cayman serves up unforgettable experiences that cater to every type of visitor. Why Grand Cayman is a Must-Visit Destination In Grand Cayman the sun-kissed beaches, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant marine life are just the beginning. The island’s unique blend of laid-back beach vibes, sophisticated luxury, and friendly locals creates a perfect backdrop for both relaxation and adventure. Planning Your Trip Maximize every moment of your stay — while avoiding common travel pitfalls — with proper planning. Seasonal Considerations The best time to visit Grand Cayman is from late November to April, when the weather is mild and pleasant. During this period, you’ll skip the rainy season, which typically brings brief but heavy showers from May to October, as well as the hurricane season, which runs from June through November — though Grand Cayman has been fortunate to avoid most major storms. Weather Patterns The island enjoys a warm, tropical climate year-round, with an average temperature of about 28°C (82°F). However, be prepared for occasional showers during the wet season with a light rain jacket for your comfort. Port Information Your ship will dock at the George Town port, which is well-equipped to welcome visitors to Grand Cayman. Take into account that Grand Cayman is a tender port, where guests are brought ashore in small boats to one of three piers along Harbour Drive. This means you will need to factor in extra time tendering between ship and shore. Once on land, however, access to the island’s top sights is generally convenient and quick. Average Time of Stay in Port Most cruise ships are in Grand Cayman around 8 to 12 hours, giving you plenty of time to explore the island’s highlights through various shore excursions. Getting Around In Grand Cayman Getting around Grand Cayman is pretty straightforward. Options include taxis, buses, and car rentals. For those who prefer a leisurely pace, walking is a pleasant way to see the sights, especially in the compact capital of George Town. Private excursions, such as those offered by Shore Excursions Group, often include transportation to the island’s sites and activities. Essential Travel Information Knowing the travel essentials is key to enjoying a smooth, hassle-free trip to Grand Cayman. Being prepared helps make your visit as easy and enjoyable as possible. Entry Requirements While you might not need to carry your passport at all times due to the cruise line handling your entry, it’s wise to have it handy for identification or in case you plan any activities that might require proof of identity. Currency The Cayman Islands Dollar (CI) is the official currency, and the U.S. Dollar is widely used. Between the two, the CI does carry a higher rate, costing you around 20% more. More than likely any change you receive will be in CI dollars. Keeping these things in mind can help you manage your spending more effectively. Tips of 15-20% are commonly expected here, with many eateries automatically adding a 15% charge to your bill — so double-check it before you pay. Safety Tips While Grand Cayman is generally safe, always practice common travel safety measures such as being aware of your surroundings and safeguarding your belongings. Top Excursions and Tours Grand Cayman offers a plethora of exciting excursions and tours that highlight the best of what the island has to offer. Here’s a look at some top experiences provided by Shore Excursions Group. Beach and Water Adventures Stingray City, Barrier Reef, and Starfish Beach Tour Experience the thrill of feeding stingrays, snorkeling at the Barrier Reef, and spotting huge starfish on this engaging tour. Perfect for those who love marine life and beautiful beaches — and a must-do for first-timers to Grand Cayman. Discover more about this adventure. Seven Mile Beach Getaway Unwind on the Caribbean’s best beach, recently voted so by Caribbean Travel and Life Magazine. Also included is a panoramic ride through George Town, where you can stop and enjoy a sweet treat at the Tortuga Rum Cake Factory. Check out this relaxing beach day. Glass Bottom Boat Tour For those who prefer to stay dry, this tour offers a window into the vibrant underwater world of Grand Cayman. Its perfect blend of rugged terrain and untouched nature offers an exciting discovery for those eager to add a touch of adventure and exploration to their journey. Whether you’re seeking thrilling adventures or a peaceful retreat, this dreamy port of call offers something for everyone, making it the ultimate cruise stop. Planning Your Trip As a cruise traveler your time is often limited, so maximizing your day is key. This island offers a variety of activities that cater to different interests, from nature treks to cultural tours. By planning ahead, you’ll ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience. Best Time to Visit Tortola enjoys warm, sunny weather throughout the year. During peak season (December to April), you’ll experience drier conditions and refreshing breezes, ideal for beach days and outdoor adventures. The summer months bring hotter, more humid weather with occasional rain showers, creating a quieter, more budget-friendly atmosphere. However, it’s important to note that tropical systems are more common between August and September. How To Get There Ships dock at the modern Tortola Pier Park, just a short distance from Road Town, the island’s capital. Cruise passengers typically spend about 6-8 hours in port, giving you just enough time to explore the highlights of this enchanting island. Getting Around in Tortola Navigating Tortola is straightforward and scenic. Local taxis are readily available and often provide informal tours of the island. For more independent travelers, car rentals offer flexibility but require driving on the left side of the road. If you’re sticking close to the port, walking is a viable option, especially for exploring nearby shops and restaurants. Private excursion operators such as Shore Excursions Group generally include transportation, navigating the hilly terrain so you don’t have to. Essential Travel Information From passports to currency and safety precautions, knowing what to expect while visiting Tortola can help you make the most of your day on this beautiful island. In some cases, carrying your passport may be required, particularly if your excursion involves going to a nearby island. Currency Although it is a British Overseas Territory, Tortola uses the U.S. dollar as its currency, making transactions super easy for American visitors. Credit cards are also commonly used for payment. As with any travel, it’s always a good idea to have some cash on hand for smaller vendors. As for tipping, a 10-15% tip is customary at restaurants, if it isn’t already included in the bill. Connection Wi-Fi can be spotty at times, especially in the island’s more remote areas. If you need consistent data, consider a roaming plan, or pop into a nearby hotel or cafe for a signal. Health and Safety While Tortola is considered a safe destination, it’s always smart to take basic precautions. Protect yourself from the sun with plenty of sunscreen, drink lots of water to stay hydrated; most of the tap water in Tortola is desalinated, and safe to drink. As with any destination, it is important to remain mindful of your surroundings. Do not tempt fate by lingering in remote areas by yourself, especially at night. For emergencies, the local hospitals and clinics are well-prepared to address minor medical needs.
